The Porsche Panamera has been given so many variations over
the past few years, you would think that they would’ve appeased every
demographic that they possibly could. Alas, they’ve given us all something to
marvel at, and something appealing to a new demographic. The recently revealed
Porsche Panamera Turismo is throwing everyone through a loop, Porsche fans and
critics alike.
It’s a wagon! The design isn’t too crazy, considering the
front of the Turismo is still distinctively Panamera. However, the rear is
shaped like a sport wagon, but with a nicely lifted buttocks and a bold rear
roof spoiler-the first of its kind on such a car! It’s been trimmed to minimize
drag at lower speeds, and what’s more, it automatically rises to minimize lift,
and when the panoramic sunroof is open it creates a third angle apt to reduce
wind noise/disturbance.
The Turismo isn’t just a pivotal release for Porsche; it’s
likely a catalyst within the sport/luxury class itself. It’s quite refreshing
to see a car manufacturer take a definitive stride that isn’t foreshadowed by
its competitor’s future concepts. The fact that it stemmed from the Porsche
Panamera is something of a mystery, but a saluted one nonetheless. The vehicles
have yet to be released on the roads, but dealers will be taking orders for deliveries
which are expected to start at the end of 2017. For more information, or
