The new Porsche 718 Boxster

 20 years after the first Boxster made its debut, Porsche is restructuring its mid-engine roadsters. The result? The 718 Boxster and the 718 S. The two-seat convertibles are going to be more powerful yet more fuel efficient. Porsche will continue the tradition of the four-cylinder flat engines that were used in the 1950's and 1960's and that won numerous races, among them being the legendary LeMans and Targa Florio.

 

 

  The centrepiece of the new model series is the newly developed four-cylinder flat engine with turbocharging. In the S-model, Porsche also uses a turbocharger with variable turbine geometry. Porsche is now the only manufacturer to offer VTG technology in production cars with petrol-driven engines, both in the 911 Turbo and in the 718 Boxster S.  The new 718 Boxster models have fuel economy improvements of up to 13 per cent. The completely new chassis tuning and stronger brakes provide for passionate and sporty driving pleasure. The design of the new model line was also comprehensively advanced. The vehicle was completely revised except for the luggage compartment lids, the windscreen and the convertible top. The navigation module is available as an option.



The launch of the new 718 Boxster generation represents the first time since the late 1960s that Porsche is implementing sports cars with four-cylinder flat engines again since the end of the 1960s.
The Porsche turbo concept is boosting driving performance while improving fuel economy. The 718 models come with a six-speed manual transmission as standard.


  In its driving dynamics, the new roadster follows in the tracks of the original 718. The car's completely retuned chassis enhances cornering performance This makes the 718 Boxster even more agile and easier to steer, both on circuit tracks and in everyday traffic.

2016 Porsche Boxster- Car and Driver 10 Best

   The Porsche Boxster has once again made it on Car and Drivers 10 Best List. With brilliant handling and a sweet flat-six engine mounted behind the driver, the Porsche Boxster is an enthusiast's dream. While it offers much of the 911's greatness (and interior), it possesses its own distinctive character. The 2016 Porsche Boxster has three engine choices: a 265-hp, 2.7 liter; a 315-hp, 3.4 liter S and a 330-hp, 3.4 liter GTS. For Porsche lovers who want the ultimate Boxster, check out the Porsche Boxster Spyder with its 375 hp. Congratulations Porsche on being a 10 Best!

The big-dog Cayenne returns

  In 1999, the 996-generation Porsche 911 GT3 managed to lap the Nürburgring Nordschleife (a motorsports complex in Germany) in 7 minutes and 56 seconds, making it the first road going Porsche to fall below the 8 second mark. Now, 17 years later, Porsche has released the Cayenne Turbo S, an even quicker version of the already ridiculously fast Cayenne Turbo. And Porsche claims it has managed to break the Nordschleife eight-minute barrier itself, having posted a 7:59.74.
With 570 HP, I believe it.

 

 

 

  Enough race talk. Beyond the lap time, the S is, as its name suggests, a turned-up-to-11 version of the existing Turbo. The power of the Cayenne Turbo S comes from slightly retuned version of the same 4.8 liter V-8, but now it delivers 570 hp and 590 lb-ft torque. Wait, What? In laymen's terms, that translates into an official 3.8 second 0-60 time. 

 

 

 

 

There are other, subtle differences in the new Cayenne Turbo S as well. The carbon-fiber interior trim and what's described as a black/cream combination. The air intakes at the front of the vehicle are also painted a glossy black, so be sure to look out for those. The Turbo S goes on sale in the U.S in late April with an MSRP of $158,295. I mean, the carbon fiber isn't going to pay for itself.

Porsche unveils the All-Electric Concet Car: The Mission E

Porsche debuted their All-Electric Mission E Concept Car at the 2015 Frankfurt Motor Show.

 

 

  Porsche unveiled the Mission E Concept, a four-seat, battery-powered sports car. The all-electric vehicle, a first in the brand’s 84-year history, stands a mere four feet, three inches from the ground and has a futuristic windswept shape. It runs 310 miles between charges, and two motors evenly distribute 600 horsepower to all four wheels, zooming the car from 0 to 62 m.p.h. in under 3.5 seconds.
  It wouldn’t be a Porsche event though without some sort of record being broken. During the unveiling, the company announced that the Mission E Concept can be charged to approximately 80 percent of its battery capacity in 15 minutes—even faster than Tesla’s Model S. The makers of that car can take heart in the fact that their vehicle has been on the road for three years now.

A legendary 1964 Porsche 356

   She may have sung about Mercedes Benz, but Janis Joplin owned a Porsche—a 1964 Porsche 356C Cabriolet, to be exact. The psychedelic roadster has a (nearly) 100-horsepower engine, progressive disc brakes, authentic non-power steering, a body weight of next to nothing, and if you’re lucky, the four-speed manual transmission will hit 60 miles per hour in 10 seconds. Driving it feels as if you’ve stepped back in time to join the glory days of motoring: With its short, little snub nose, low ride, and that four-speed manual transmission, you'll achieve total road contact between human and machine.

  She bought the car used, off a lot in 1968, and let her artist friend, Dave Richards, paint jellyfish and butterflies all over it. They called it a kaleidoscopic rendition of the "history of the universe."
When you slip inside the 365 it's like touching a ghost—you can almost smell patchouli.
With Porsche character intact, it starts right up. Like Joplin's rock ballads, her darling little Porsche has stood the test of time. 

The new Porsche Macan GTS

 

 

   Porsche is expanding both its Macan line and its range of GTS models with the launch of the new Macan GTS. The new performance model slots in between the Macan S and Macan Turbo, packing a mightier punch, upgraded equipment, and sportier styling. The improvements naturally start under the hood, where the Macan GTS packs a 3.0-liter twin-turbo V6, good for 360 horsepower and 369 pound-feet of torque. The result is a 0-60 time quoted at 5.0 seconds (or 4.8 with the optional Sport Chrono pack) and a top speed of 159 miles per hour. Of course, Porsche didn't just tinker with the engine and leave it at that. Compared to the Macan S, the GTS features a retuned air suspension, recalibrated electronics, ride height lowered by 10 millimeters, and 20-inch wheels with a matte black finish.
